伊朗87岁男子哈吉（Amou Haji）长达67年没洗澡，全身上下覆盖着厚重污垢，为了填饱肚子会食用腐烂动物尸体，消息传出后引发国际关注。科学团队想研究这些年未经清洗身体上的寄生虫和细菌，事后却惊讶发现，他并没有生病，身体健康状态与一般人无异，而这一切很有可能与他强大的免疫系统有关。
综合镜报、Times Now报导，哈吉住在伊朗大沙漠地洞中，过去60多年来都没有洗澡，认为清洗身体可能会带来坏运，平时就吃路边被车撞死的动物尸体过活，像是豪猪、兔子等，甚至会直接喝接到水坑里的水，抽菸烟草取自动物粪便。直到最近，他才住进当地人建造的棚屋，平时大多都是一人独处。
法尔斯省德日加村（Dejgah）医疗研究团队听闻哈吉的故事后，也来到当地进行包括各种肝炎、爱滋等多项检测，对他身上可能存在的寄生虫、细菌以及他个人健康状态感兴趣。
然而团队惊讶发现，哈吉身体出奇地健康，没有严重疾病，就跟普通家庭居民差不多，只有发现无症状的旋毛虫感染症。学者莫拉维（Gholamreza Molavi）认为，哈吉之所以能保持健康，应该与他强大的免疫系统有关。
依据先前报导，哈吉虽然身体脏，但仍相当在意外貌，爱照镜子，也会定期修剪毛发、胡子，剪头发是以火烧头发的方式来修剪，冬天时则会戴上头盔来御寒。
哈吉曾透露，自己不洗澡其实与自己的妻子有关，因为年轻时的他曾和一个女孩相爱结婚，正当2人开始过上幸福生活时，妻子却因瘟疫离开人间，这让他感到相当痛苦，从此以后变得自暴自弃。当记者问及不再洗澡的原因，他说，是想留住妻子残留的味道。
