奥密克戎致美确诊激增 福奇:高峰期或仅数周

（华盛顿3日讯）美国白宫首席防疫专家福奇2日表示，由于变异株奥密克戎扩散至全美，美国正经历确诊病例“几乎是垂直增加”的阶段，不过高峰期可能仅数周而已。
福奇接受美国广播公司节目“本周”访问说：“我们正处于确诊病例骤增及持续增加的阶段。”他指飙升的染疫率“的确前所未见”。
由于奥密克戎肆虐全球，美国去年12月31日通报新增44万确诊病例，几乎正好比去年2月的峰值多了20万。
不过，福奇指出，南非的前例显示若干乐观期盼。奥密克戎最初是去年11月在南非发现，很快就达到染疫的高峰，并以相同的快速消退。
他说，越来越多的证据显示，奥密克戎的毒性不如之前的变异株，近几周美国的染疫死亡和住院率，远低于以往的疫情大爆发期间。
